Na drie innings (er worden er normaal negen gespeeld) stond het 7-0 voor de Mets. Zoiets komt hard aan in Philadelphia; Steve zat letterlijk met zijn hoofd tussen zijn knieen te kijken (als Feyenoord fan wist ik precies hoe hij zich voelde...'en weer een afstraffing door Ajax'). Maar toen gebeurde het, de Phillies knokten zich terug in wedstrijd en wisten in de negende inning bij twee uit alsnog de 7-7 uit het vuur te slepen! Dat betekent niet dat er gelijk is gespeeld, maar dat we door wordt gespeeld. Kortom, drie innings en anderhalf uur later stond het nog steeds 7-7!!! Pas in de dertiende inning wisten de Phillies de wedstrijd te beslissen door een puntje te scoren, Steve uit zijn plaat en ik een memorabele ervaring rijker. Met de overwinning pakten de Phillies de leiding in de divisie (die ze alweer kwijt zijn aan de Mets...wederom een Feyenoord-gevoel...aarrgghh).
